Use of cornering lines - where to move from 'view' to 'line through'

Often, the advice given is watch for the limit point to 'rise' or 'move further away'.  The diagram (single lane only shown) shows this with the view from the path of travel (blue line) along the view obtained (red line) to the far side (verge or centre line, you choose) at the point where the verge straightens.  However, where the red line meets the nearside is the 'surprise horizon', the furthest point beyond which you can't see clearly to check for danger.  If you choose to take a line which moves across towards the nearside you are potentially moving into danger.

Waiting until the nearside is clearly visible (green view line) elminates that risk.
